Denstone College
Finding a good place for a conference is quite possibly the hardest part! The MEC is only in its third year of existance, and we’ve been trying to find a good place that’s affordable and can accomodate a large number of people.
The SEEC has been using this girl’s boarding school for the many years they’ve been around, and they rely on COCM chefs to provide their catering (at a cut rate price). So last year, the MEC organising committee discovered Denstone - which was also a boarding school, but provided food - everything for a fairly reasonable price.
As an organising committee we went to check out Denstone in December, to get a better feel for what it’s like. First thing i’d use to describe it? Grand. It’s a very imposing, beautiful, historic building - very old-school british feeling. The grounds are beautiful, and the building is classic.
I think sometimes just having the chance to go away someplace - where it’s quiet, and peaceful - gives us a chance to reflect on life, to reflect on how things have gone, and where things are going. I’m definitely looking forward to some opportunities for quiet reflection this year.
